I don't know, I've never used one. If you buy the kit lens, though, it's easier to get a feel for what type of lens you'd like to have in the future. If you just bought the telescopic right away, you wouldn't have that opportunity. You would just get the perks of a telescopic lens and not be able to do like.. semi-wide angle shots like you would with a kit lens.

It depends on what you want to use it for, really. But if you want to, it's good to start out with the kit lens and then buy the telescopic later on (or a macro or fisheye or whatever you need to take the pictures you want to take).

But with the telescopic lens can you still shoot regularly?

I've heard that it's always good to buy the kit lens, but now I wish that I had bought the telescopic lens instead (I have a 18-55mm for my Canon and it kinda sucks because I can't take pictures of anything farther than fifteen feet away because of the lack of zoom).

My vacation's been pretty good, I'm mostly reading, taking pictures and studying for the SAT. How's yours been?

Thanks.

I'm just wondering if it would be more beneficial to buy the camera body and then a telescopic lens (75-300mm) rather than the kit lens.

How's your vacation been going?

Thanks, it took like ten tries in Photoshop to resize it, but I think it was worth the trouble. The kitty's sitting in my lap!

Are you trying to tell me something? -grin-

"Shane: Oh God, you are a dyke. I was totally wrong, you're more of one than I am."

So I just found out that my rather severely conservative (read: homophobic) aunt looked at my DA this week...
